Jesus was ready to face the suffering of the cross because He prayed…. His relationship with The Father was rock solid. His relationship with The Heavenly Father was good because He Prayed.
In the Garden of Gethsemane He prayed and He tried to get His disciples to pray, but they slept instead. When bad things started to happen they ran away instead of sticking with Jesus because they weren't ready. They had neglected their relationship with God by not praying as they should.
Jesus didn’t wait until something bad was about to happen to pray…. Jesus prayed a lot….
Luke 5:15B-16…. large crowds would come together to hear Him and to be healed of their sicknesses. Yet He often withdrew to deserted places and prayed.

Jesus prayed with others… Luke 9:28… He took along Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray.
And Jesus prayed for others... Matthew 19:13…. Then children were brought to Him so He might put His hands on them and pray.
John 17:20..... I pray not only for these, but also for those who believe in Me through their message.

John 17:20..... I pray not only for these, but also for those who believe in Me through their message.
Sometimes He prayed long prayers…. Luke 6:12…. During those days He went out to the mountain to pray and spent all night in prayer to God.
But short prayers are OK too….Matthew 6:7…. When you pray, don't babble like the idolaters, since they imagine they'll be heard for their many words.
Jesus taught persistence in prayer…. Luke 18:1.... He then told them a parable on the need for them to pray always and not become discouraged….
We can’t go through life’s storms when we rely on ourselves… we have to rely on God….like Jesus did in Gethsemane.
Psalm 42:5 says…. Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
So we sum up today’s thought with this one verse in Jesus’ words as written by Matthew…
Matthew 26:41…. Stay awake and pray, so that you won't enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.
We can help others better through tough times when our relationship with God is rock solid.
Treasure to journey with God by praying - like Jesus did.
Paul.
