I went out last night to fill my bird feeders. Yes, all kinds of birds are starting to show up and I realized that those beautiful yellow blooms were popping out on my forsythia to say hello, spring is here. The birds are singing and my redbud tree is in full bloom and life is emerging from my oakleaf hydrangea.
These are reminders of how great GOD is.
In the midst of the serious human condition we're all going through right now GOD's creations continue to bring us beauty and comfort... and not only that but they continue to recognize HIS greatness.
In the Old Testament we find a man named Job who was suffering from all kinds of disease and family loss testifying to his friends that everything GOD created knows who is really in control... That even the animals recognize GOD's care and power... even the animals and the plants know who created them...
But ask the animals, and they will instruct you; ask the birds of the sky, and they will tell you.
Or speak to the earth, and it will instruct you; let the fish of the sea inform you.
Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this?
The life of every living thing is in His hand, as well as the breath of all mankind. (Job 12:7-10 CSB)
King David knew this too....
Worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness; tremble before Him, all the earth.
Say among the nations: "The LORD reigns. The world is firmly established; it cannot be shaken. He judges the peoples fairly."
Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice; let the sea and all that fills it resound.
Let the fields and everything in them exult. Then all the trees of the forest will shout for joy....
(Psalm 96:9-12a CSB)
While our lives have been forced to slow down take time to soak in some nature - the flowers, the greening up of grass, the new blooms, leaves popping out on trees, and the birds... The sunrise and the sunset... and maybe even a good cup of coffee.
All of these beautiful things remind us of GOD's greatness, HIS love, and HIS care for everything HE created.
And Jesus reminds of this too....
"This is why I tell you: Don't worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn't life more than food and the body more than clothing?
Look at the birds of the sky: They don't sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you worth more than they?
Can any of you add a single cubit to his height by worrying?
And why do you worry about clothes? Learn how the wildflowers of the field grow: they don't labor or spin thread.
Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was adorned like one of these!
(Mat 6:25-29 CSB)
Be blessed and remember to pray for others,
Paul.
