Where's that Lighthouse?

Hi everyone,

Yesterday’s message from Phil Sanders during our online worship service was really good, and although he gave us several really good ideas about how to let our light shine and how to be the salt of the earth, one phrase really jumped out at me. It went something like this….  If you aren’t able to shine a big light you can still shine a little light.

How important that is… I mean just a little light can illuminate a big room.

In a pitch black, dark room the light from a single match or candle will light things up enough for us to find our way without stumbling over something and will allow us to see others in the room.

Like driving in a heavy fog, if we can just get a glimpse of a tail light of a car up ahead…or like a ship at sea when they get a glimpse of light from a lighthouse… these lights give us hope of not running into something.
I think that’s kind of the image John had in mind when he wrote these words 2,000 years ago…

...the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining.” (1st John 2:8B CSB)

The light was there all along we just couldn’t always see it.

“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness.” (Isaiah 9:2 CSB)

The whole world is going through a dark time right now… and all the people need our little lights to help guide their way and to give them hope.

GOD’s light is always shining - we just don’t always see it.

Like the ship captain in the fog, keep looking and you will see the light that will guide you to safety.

The darkness will give way to dawn and the fog will lift to a shiny new day.

Yes, look to GOD’s Word and you’ll find that His light has always been there… already shining.

I want you all to know how much I miss being able to fellowship in person. Believe me, the older you get the more precious times of fellowship become...Especially when that fellowship is centered on Jesus and the study of GOD’s Word.

Be blessed and keep on praying,

Paul.

  1. Reminded me of your mother. She always wanted to have a flashlight with her. That will always stay with me.
