I remember as a kid looking up into the sky wondering how far it was to heaven, thinking that GOD lives so far away.
But GOD's Word, the Bible tells a different story... yes, GOD does live in a place that is above and removed from evil, but HE also lives with the people who are trying their best to have a relationship with HIM.
The prophet Isaiah recorded these words from GOD so that we might know, that for people who want to depend on GOD instead of self, HE also lives with us...very nearby really.
For the High and Exalted One who lives forever, whose name is Holy says this: "I live in a high and holy place, and with the oppressed and lowly of spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and revive the heart of the oppressed. (Isa 57:15 CSB)
Prayer helps, I know from experience. Knowing that GOD is nearby for those who want HIM got me through some pretty rough cancer treatments.
Depend on GOD, not self.
Pray about what scares you, pray for sick loved ones, pray telling GOD about everything that makes you happy, pray with thanksgiving... pray about everything.
Listen to what Paul said about it as he sat in prison...
Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.
Don't worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Phi 4:5-7 CSB)
So the next time you look up into the sky, remember that while GOD is out there somewhere, HE is also very nearby if you desire to be close to HIM.
Be blessed and keep on praying,
Paul.
