Forgetfulness

Try Not to Forget.

The Bible. Have you read it? Do you believe it? Does it seem too overwhelming and complicated?
Well I’ll admit it can seem complicated and overwhelming, so if you’re interested in knowing more about GOD or about why we’re here in the first place, then I would suggest giving the Bible another chance.

Remember that it’s a collection of ancient and Middle Eastern documents, so it will contain sayings and customs that we most likely will not understand. But it tells a story throughout its pages that is still very relevant to everyone living today.

The story itself is pretty simple. GOD created and loves people. From the beginning people have a habit of not responding well to GOD.
GOD does good things for people, and they are thankful and faithful to GOD for a while and then they settle back into old habits and forget about GOD.

The story repeats itself over and over and still happens today.
GOD does something good for us and soon we get busy with “stuff” and we forget GOD. The other “stuff” takes precedence.

GOD’s plan for people is pretty simple too. He wants to live with us and do good things for us.

For I know the plans I have for you"-- this is the LORD's declaration-- "plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. You will call to Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. (Jer 29:11-12 CSB)

Maybe you or someone you know has been sick and GOD answered prayers and you were healed. Maybe financial troubles came and GOD provide a way out.
Maybe broken family relationships were mended.

Maybe you are facing something terrible now with no hope in sight.
Maybe you’ve lost a loved one.
Maybe you’re at your wits end with all of the separation of the quarantine.

Try not to forget GOD. Let the Bible bring GOD’s blessings to you. I suggest asking GOD to let it speak to you as you read it. Read it understanding that the overall story is that GOD loves you and that we should never forget about GOD.

Think about the good things that have happened to you and how thankful you were.

I know that I’ve done more than my share of forgetting GOD.

GOD wants us to be with Him forever and wants us to be well.

My soul, praise the LORD, and do not forget all His benefits. He forgives all your sin; He heals all your diseases. (Psa 103:2-3 CSB)

Like the Psalmist, you may ask… but what can I do for GOD?
How can I repay the LORD for all the good He has done for me? (Psa 116:12 CSB)
The answer is in the next verse - accept GOD’s goodness and keep on calling on His name.
I will take the cup of salvation and call on the name of Yahweh. (Psa 116:13 CSB)
Simply put… we should never forget GOD.
The best way I know to not forget?  Keep being thankful and keep praying.

GOD came to the earth in the form of His son Jesus to show people what His love looks like and He still invites us to come to Him.

"Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Mat 11:28 CSB)

In our daily journeys let’s not forget GOD.

Paul.
