I'm not much on New Year's resolutions, but I do want so very much to commit to living this year in a more intimate relationship with Jesus.
The only way I know of to do that is to is put aside any and all ill or harsh feelings towards others people... and to be kind to everyone.
Maybe someone has rubbed you the wrong way, maybe you don't agree with someone politically - or even religiously, maybe someone owes you something, maybe you were cut off in traffic, or cheated, or betrayed.... the list is endless. I want to be free from all of those bad feelings towards others no matter what the cause or reason.
Just look at the way people, from the beginning of time, have treated their Creator, our Father in Heaven. We have ignored Him, rebelled against His ways, used His name in vain, claimed to be His followers- while treating other people badly, and we have put self ahead of doing His will and helping others...the list goes on and on, yet He still wants a relationship with everyone He created. So much so that He sent His Son Jesus to show us how to live and give Himself up for us.
So, I'm starting this new year thankful to GOD for always meeting our needs, while seeking to forgive others for whatever someone may have done, are doing, or will do to me.
Here's how Jesus teaches his followers to pray....
You, therefore, pray like this: 'Our Father in heaven! May your Name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us the food we need today. Forgive us what we have done wrong, as we too have forgiven those who have wronged us. And do not lead us into hard testing, but keep us safe from the Evil One.*For kingship, power and glory are yours forever. Amen.' (Mat 6:9-13 CJB)
Jesus went on to explain... For if you forgive others their offenses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive others their offenses, your heavenly Father will not forgive yours.(Mat 6:14-15 CJB)
Achieving an intimate relationship with with our Creator is a journey... and not necessarily an easy one.
Blessings in your journey,
Paul.
